From the board of Rob Humphry’s in 1996 Constructed at Firm helm Pwllheli BADA BING offers entry to serious yachting for very sensible money. Fully IRC Optimised this boat is as capable offshore in CAT 3 races as she is around the cans in regattas with a full range of Carbon Racing Sails, Raymarine instrumentation to include mast displays, plotter and Autopilot. The vessel has benefitted from a professional refit in 2018 and is dry sailed. She raced again last summer with Wins in the Round Anglesey and Local Regattas. At only 30ft the boat steals more size with her considerable beam and makes for a very spacious layout on deck. The rig was new in 2011 and consists of a double spreader set up with rod rigging and all new dyneema running rigging in 2018. The boat has an unquestionable pedigree with Wins in every series over the years at the competitive Liverpool yacht Club as well as two Isle of Man Midnight Races, Class Wins in Rorc Offshore Lyver Trophy and 4 overall wins and 5 Class Wins out of 6 attempts in the Round Anglesey Race. The IRC rating of 1.006 illustrates the speed of the boat which the owners have fine tuned over the last 7 years to hit the numbers in any conditions. A capable light airs ghoster right up to gale force winds this boat performs and targets 6.4 knots upwind with the magic 20 being reached off the breeze on a few occasions – Ultimate downwind Buzz with the ability to hold her own on all points of sail. Despite the performance the boat is extremely pleasing and easy to handle – On deliverys or in cruising mode she is a doddle and will sail short or singlehanded. There is an Asymmetric pole as well as Masthead and fractional conventional symmetric spinnakers. Below she offers 4 berths but can sleep 6 (or often 8 hardened racers). She has a W.C and a galley/chart table storage area, Stereo, Vhf etc Built from Cedar Strip and sheathed in epoxy offers the strength and lightness of the wooden boat but with zero wooden boat issues. The engine is all serviced and the boat is crying out for more trophies in 2019 season. This boat outperforms many 30 – 40 footers and hold her own in almost any weather – Sail costs etc are a fraction fo the larger boats and running costs are far less – The fun factor is the opposite!
